    Surf Life Saving NSW has announced that, due to COVID-19, beach patrols by volunteer surf lifesavers have been cancelled for the rest of the season.

    As part of efforts to keep our community members and employees safe from the spread of coronavirus (COVID -19), Council's Community Centres and their programs at Banora Point, Tweed Heads South, Kingscliff Community Hall, Tweed Heads Auditorium and South Sea Islander Room are now closed until further notice.

    Customer Service Counters at both Tweed and Murwillumbah Offices will be closed to the public from Friday 27 March 2020 until further notice.     The location of Emergency Evacuation Centres is determined during an event. The Local Emergency Management Committee and SES will notify Council when this decision has been made.     Council will progressively close playgrounds, skate parks, BBQs and public exercise equipment from Monday 30 March 2020. Signs will be installed to notify the public and electric BBQs will be switched off.

    Recovery centres are a one-stop-shop for the provision of government and non-government services for people affected by emergencies.     During times of high rainfall, the stormwater will temporarily struggle to cope with the inundation. This will drain as the rainfall eases. If you are experiencing overflow issues from the stormwater drain, please phone the SES on 132 500 for sandbags or support.

    As an essential service to Tweed Shire and other local councils, we continue to provide critical testing services, including testing of town water supplies. Due to Council's response to the COVID-19 situation the following non-critical testing services are not being accepted:

    - Organics - including whole BTEX/TRH suite, Phenols, PAHs, Pesticides.
